The Magic of Yoga and Mental Health with Sonja Katrina

Have you struggled with your mental health or ever been in a dark place where you had suicidal thoughts? You aren’t alone. This topic today is a big one. It’s a topic that a lot of people struggle to talk about, and it’s a topic that we need to normalize.

I have felt the world's heaviness; sometimes, it felt too much to take on. My guest, Sonja, has also felt the same way. She thought she could not see a way out. Fortunately, she found yoga. A healing modality that became her saving grace and led her down a path to continue to seek ways to support herself.

If you struggle with mental health or have debilitating thoughts that take over your life, know it is okay to ask for help. Listen to this episode to find the tools to overcome the heaviness and the courage to get the help you need.

This episode is in honor of Twitch. If you or someone you know is struggling with suicidal thoughts, please call The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 988, or visit 988lifeline.org

Sonja Katrina has been sharing the practice of yoga since 2007. Sonja is a believer in the power of yoga, breathwork, and meditation in the battle against mental health and suicide, and when it comes to her own mental health, she says that it was yoga that saved her life. Since the start of her yoga practice in 2002, Sonja has proven herself to be a devoted practitioner and spiritual seeker. As a teacher, Sonja is both caring and empowering, encouraging her students to honor their boundaries as well as try new things to take their practice to the next level. Sonja’s love of yoga, extraordinary understanding of alignment, her devotion to service of something greater than herself, as well as her sincere desire to support people, have opened incredible doors for her and she is excited to bring her real-world learnings into digital offerings soon.

Sonja’s website as well as library of yoga videos are currently under construction, but please follow her on Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok, all under the handle @energyandpeaceyoga.

Sonja has a desire to make the gifts of yoga accessible to everyone even if you only have 20 minutes. Her classes will be available in 2023 on energyandpeaceyoga.com
